huh.gif Just got these in from Groton, the OEM are exactly the same size but these sure aren't. One of them looks like it is designed for a rally car and the other looks more like the OEM. They do fit on the car, but the angle will be slightly different due to the overall height/shaft length where it connects to the knuckle. What really makes me worry is that i ordered one sway bar link with this order and received two...free of charge...wondering if the dude was really high when he packed it. Anyone run into this before?

That's weired, maybe they didn't have the one you ordered and gave you an OEM. Speaking of end links you got from fcp for $15 are crap, you will be due for new ones next year. Dust boots don't last on them. These are the ones you need http://www.eeuroparts.com/productdetail.as...lts=1&code=5777

Both of mine match perfectly. I just bought them last month. Mine look like one in your pic on the right, with the blue circlips. Looks like you have a mismatched pair. Just have them send you another one with the blue clips ... they're real good about that stuff.

The tie-rod on the left hand side is the correct one...the one on the right is not correct and should not be on an 850...possibly an 240...

I'd call Groton and have them ship you another correct Tie-Rod

They are better than OEM if you look for performance, I am not into performance and satisfied with OEM.

Hmm... Groton sent me two of the ones on the right....

I put them on last night and seemed to fit fine. What are the downsides of keeping them on?

the one on the right is identical to OEM and what i just took off the car. i am sort of thinking the left may be off an XC, but i haven't looked to see if they are different part numbers yet monkey.gif

Yes, if it came down to paying 40 a piece for end links, i would just wait for Slater's...it just makes sense. The OEM end links are a joke

weird...mine were both identical...there really shouldn't be a difference on a side...I seriously doubt its going to matter...unless one is structurally weaker

Well, seeing how they are 100% sealed a long time.

They are not your run of the mill rod ends...

I think as far as ajs850t's case is concerned, it probably isnt a big deal as long as both links are the same length. It is wierd that they would send two when only one was ordered. Oh well...a spare never hurts I guess. Im pretty sure I need a new set myself as im getting a popping noise that I understand is a symptom. I realize it could be other things but I tend to start with the cheapest/easiest part to replace & go from there. I was thinking about the heavy duty links from IPD but it just appears to be a similar link to all the aftermarket ones out there but with a thicker rod. And im under the impression its the hardware at each end of the rod that wears out. I mean im sure the thicker rod provides for better handling but wouldnt the ends wear just as quickly as any other aftermarket part? Keep in mind im not performance minded. I mean I drive a 1998 N/A S70 with 15" steel wheels. But I do cover about 500-600 miles a week in DC/Metro area traffic, particularly the godforsaken beltway. So when it comes to replacement parts, I want to put something on the car that will be safe and last. Slater, I know by reading the boards here what youve been going through. And by no means do I intend to make a set of sway bar links sound more important than your health. But when yours are ready, youll let us know right?

fwiw, i sent Nick at FCP the photo with the 2 different tie rods. He said both were correct.

I would probably return one of them and get 2 of the same kind though.
