Hey guys and gals,

I just picked up a new to me 96 850R, upgrading from a 94 855T. The R did not come with the Key Fobs, will the key fobs from the 94 work? Seems to be a diffrent alarm system, the turn signals blink when you lock the door. My 94 does not do that. SO is there a diffrence in the fobs from 94 to 96? Please any info would be great!

If your 94 FOB doesn't work on the 96 R, then it's likely not compatible. My 96 855T FOB did not work on my other 96 850R, so I had to buy the correct FOB. I believe the correct FOB for the 96/97 R's are the 2-button model with "Lock/Panic" button on top and "Unlock" button below. It is not the FOB with "Lock" button on the left and "Unlock" button on the right. Check eBay as they sell it there quite often.

I have been doing research online for the info I need but cannot seem to find the right remote. I am going to try again tomorrow to reprogram my other. If anyone can give me a part number I would truely appreicate it! The R says Volvo Gaurd system and the 94 850T doesnt. I am thinking that Geevs your right I need the type your stating. Please anyone with more info let me know!

The 850R use the newer rectangular remotes. They are also used on the 97 and up 850s

1996 850R Black with black interior. w/ 94K miles - B+G Springs with Bilstein HD struts and shocks, Bridgestone Potenza SO-3's 215/45/17 on Volans for the summer, and Dunlop Graspic DS-2's 195/60/15 on Volvo 15" steel wheels for the winter. K&N Filter, Clear side markers, E-code Lenses and E-code 2-bulb corners.

I have the remote with the LOCK/PANIC on top, it wont work on my 95.
If your remote is the one with buttons side by side, I'll trade you and we can try them?
