Volvo 850 Estate/Sedan, 1994 (UK market) . Vehicle is fitted with factory Central Locking/Alarm. The system locks/unlocks all doors with remote. However, the indicators do not flash when locking/unlocking. How do I get the indicators to flash? LED on dashboard functions. Please, does anyone know how to activate the flashers. I asked at the local Volvostealers, but was told by a surly service desk person that the car needed to be plugged into their computer. Being a cynic about Volvo servicing, I believe this was merely to get into my wallet! Can anyone help please?

what.. isn't flashing? the four ways?
as far as i know, at least with the american volvo's, the 4-way's don't flash when locking/unlocking..
the led on the dash will blink when the doors are locked, however.
edit: i mean 850's

I have a '95 850 with central locking and alarm system. Nothing on mine flashes when locked or unlocked except for the LED on the dash. So, should the corners flash on mine??? If '95 doesn't flash, why would '94...unless both of ours are defunct?

Although on mine, sometime the LED won't flash when locked. I found that the back hatch was not getting locked--the doors do. Everytime the hatch didn't lock, the LED didn't flash. Slamming the hatch close harder than usual seems to work. I wonder if you have a similar situation, that is, if you're referring to the LED not flashing, sometimes?

Mine dosent flash either.

same thing happens with my back door. the lock in the hatch stopped working unless i manaully unlocked it.. i just disconnected it and i'll buy a replacement when the time comes.

On my 97 855 the signal lights flash when I lock the doors. Perhaps there is a way to enable them. If someone has access to SIDAV maybe there is a procedure in there that tells you how to enable them. Then again maybe that is an option on 97 and newer Ovlov's. What I would like to know is there a way to have the horn sound when you lock the doors?
