Hello,
I have 98 S70 T-5. I am trying to replace the outer CV boots, as I don't have the money to change the axles completely. I looked at the joints, and they still seem to have a good amount of grease in them, and no visible dirt.

I am wondering what I need to do after I remove the axle from the car. I pulled out the driver's side axle, and pulled the clamps off of the torn boot. How do I get it off now? What do I need to do to put on the new boots? If I need to take the joint apart, how do I do this?

Thanks to all in advance.

Do a search on this topic. There's a lot of information. Basicly you need to split the axle in half. There's a clip that holds the shafts together that's a bit of a bear.

If you dont know much about that type of repair I found it easier to bring it to a shop and be in and out in an hour for $65(including boot) then to get stuck wasting time with it.....There are varying prices for that repair so shop around if you cant do it yourself....Look at ads in pennysaver papers...

Another good resolution is to get rebuilt axles from raxles.com, especially if your axles have a lot of miles on them. I have never used them myself, but have heard nothing but good things on the forums.
