You might want to upload your pics to photobucket.com or something similar and insert your images that way...It will be easier to see what you have circled I believe...

It's the vacumn line for your heated crankcase vent. Should come from under the intake from the upper lines of the breather box. There is a small hard line that has a rubber 90 that goes to the breater heater tee.

Be real careful if you try and seperate the larger hose from the air intake hose...where the large elbow is the PCV hose going into it can break easily if you yank on it hard because it gets real brittle over time.....If you want to seperate some of those hoses that won't come loose try putting heat with a hair dryer on it for a while....

+1 ... I did this and broke the hard plastic pipe and had to do a complete PCV job. The circled part is part of the PCV system - the larger one connects back to the oil trap and it cycles crankcase fumes back into the fresh air intake hose. The smaller one, if I remember correctly, is connected to the port on the left side of the intake manifold so that it can provide vacuum to the device that the two hoses connect to (not sure what it's called) ...

It's common for the vacuum elbow on the left side of the intake manifold will be broken, and in that case, just run the small hose to an open port on the vacuum tree.

I did a splice job on mine by getting about 2" of a larger hosing and 2 hose clamps...You shove the larger hose over the PCV piping at the break...They sell larger oil resistant PCV hosing at Pep Boys

I'd say since you're using the silicone lines, I would just skip the elbow and connect a red line up...should be much easier and you can avoid the hassle. Just make sure it doesn't get kinked.

+1

I just ran a standard vac line w/ the cloth insulation around, since it pretty much sits on the fuel rail: HOT!

Don't bother with the OEM stuff.

I second that. I went through all the vac lines on the XC and replaced what rubber elbows I saw with the 3.5mm silicone line that I had. Looks a little odd but hopefully I won't have to mess with them again.
