I would like to know a few things. I need to bring the car in for recall for the gas tank bushings. Will they check for leaks? I swear it is leaking. I park in a gravel driveway so I cant see anything. I filled up the tank and I am almost @ 1/2 tank and have driven 70 miles. Very easy miles also. Is there a pressure test or something that could be done?

I already had it done and I believe it is a visual inspection.....funny you ask this about a check for leak. I had a leak on the side of the tank by the gas fill door after fillup.....
I asked them(Volvo dealer) to check this and they said my tank had to come down and I needed a new hose(Big Bucks$$$$$$).....I didnt think it was right so I started checking on my own......From this site I was able to determine the problem.....The leak I had was from the wire going into the top of the fuel pump(deterioated compound where wire enters top)..I fixed it with Seal-All ($3-4 Walmart automotive , Autozone).
One way to tell if there is a leak is stains on the tank where the leak is and gas odors from it...It can leak from the fuel pump which is located in the trunk.....The compund on the wires going into the top of the pump can deteriorate also the seal(gasket) between the fuel pump and tank can let fuel out.....If you think you have a leak look at the top of the fuel pump if you are capable of doing your own repairs if its leaking it will be wet after a fillup...If the tank is low when you check there will be alot of dried up gas on top of the fuel pump if there is a leak there.

I will try to get under there this weekend and look it over. I know I should be getting better gas mileage.

I just had mine done and it is a visual inspection. My dealership didn't try anything funny, but I've heard that a few out there use it as an opportunity to recommend other work like PCV cleaning, alignments, serp belt replacements etc.
All they did was install 3 rubber bushings and 3 flange nuts. No charge.
The best way to zero in on a gas leak is from the odor. Park it inside overnight, even a small leak will smell like crazy.
