hey guys...new to the forum...but been into modding for 10 years now... i purchased a 94 850 glt wagon as a beater. the car has not started in a while when i bought it and i am about knee deep into this car as is.

now the issue...

2.3T auto trans
no check engine light when the key is in the on position (from my experience from audis that is a sure sign of a dead ecu)

no spark
the car cranks good
tdc is good
reference sensor is good
cam angle sensor is good
ignition module is good
could not get any fault codes by checking the fault code thing by the ecu, checked pin 2 and 6, but I am not getting any codes whatsoever from it

anybody had an ecu go bad on them?

TIA chris

it could be that the check engine light in the dash just burned out?

if you arent at least getting a 1.1.1 from the ecu in 2 especially, someting is very wrong. check the other pins as well. if no 1.1.1 from tranny, cruise, etc, just sell the car (kidding)

make sure the ecu is locked into place in it's box. no led at the test port and no check engine light makes me pretty sure it's either not plugged in right, or totally fried.

the car had a pretty good service history. I hear the fuel pump turn on..and checked the fuel pump relay. I am not getting any indications especially on the #2 ecu pin...press the little button, the red light goes on and then no response...no 1-1-1 at all. Everything points to a bad ECU, but just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything in between. the ecu is securely plugged in...I am ready to sell this thing for a little less than 1k if anybody is interested...

Im in central nj by the way...anybody wanna stop by so I can check ECUs, Ill cover a case of beer of your choice

i dunno man. my old 850 (a 95) didn't give me any info back either but the car ran fine. if you can swap the ecu's go for it, but there are a lot of other things it could be... i'd check out the plugs, wires, and cap and make sure they're all in good shape. i only say that 'cause you didn't mention doing so and said you lacked spark.

best of luck.
