Ok
I posted a little while ago becuase I was hearing a metal on metal rubbing noise related to tire speed.
Well just jacked the car up here are the observations:
Front wheels spin with some resistance (in neutral) and make a slight metel on metal sound during liek 15% of their rotation
the rear wheels rotate very freely but make a BAD metal on metal sounds (Easily 10X louder then the fronts) the sound happens for about 50% of the wheels rotation.
I have KVR drilled rotors and pads. (3 years old)
I have no idea what is causeing this noise but the car seems to drive fine
Any oppinions - also I am planning a few hour long trip over the weekend - will it be safe? haha

The fronts could just be normal brake noise. I am guessing your real problem is in the rear. Does your parking brake work? How does the rotor look, grooves, etc. It could be a broken part of the parking brake that is dragging inside the drum.

The Parking break does work - I have the pull tha handle all the way up but it holds.
I cant see it being part of the P break - if it were loose and rolling around the noise would be constant no? and the P break shouldnt move with the wheel.
All 4 rotors have groves all around them....3-5 seperate groves.

Not really sure about the front, but the sound you're having from the rear is definitely your parking brake shoes out of adjustment - they are contacting the inside surface of the drum (where it mates with the wheel hub) and making the noise. I am working on my rear brakes as we speak, and I attempted to adjust the parking brake and failed miserably
.
I'm super frustrated that I have to take the wheel, pads, caliper, and disc off on the back again ... on both sides to readjust. I tried to do it through the hole in the rotor with a screwdriver and flashlight, but it's still binding (making the noises you describe) to the point where I can hear it in open air, and I'm going to have to go back in and do it all over again. Sure ... I enjoy working on my car, but this is also my spring break
!
If anyone has any tips/pointers for me, I'd appreciate it!

Interesting - but would the ebrake touching cause the sound to be made on only 1/2 the wheel rotation?
Thanks

Ben - Yes, it would. That's exactly what it was doing on my car. I placed the rotor (rear) on the hub and screwed the 8mm wheel locating pin in and turned it, and it only made noise when the pin was from the 12 to 4 o'clock position, and it would repeat once the pin got back to that range of rotation. I think I have it kinda figured out ... when you remove the rotor, the parking brake pads move around a little bit. With the rotor off, grab the parking brake pads on the bottom and push up - you'll see that they move up and down. Before you replace the rotor, make sure both the parking brake pads are pushed ALL the way up and that the adjuster wheel is closed to the full-in position (so you can't see its threads) Replace the rotor, screw in the 8mm pin and turn the rotor to verify that there's no contact with the parking brake pads on the inside drum surface. Align the brake rotor with the notches on the parking brake adjustment screw and adjust according to Haynes - loosen notches on the adjustment screw with a flat blade screwdriver and flashlight until you can hear the pads against the inside drum, then go 4-5 notches back in the opposite direction.
Assemble everything back together, including the wheel and lug nuts, and re-verify that everything is OK. There might be a bit of friction noise from the pads (the ones that contact the disc surface) but that should clear itself up once you break in the pads and rotors. Lastly, adjust the parking brake cable inside the center console as neccessary.
Hope this helps - I'm still working on my car as we speak ... so shoot me any pointers you have or whether this works for you.

Hey
Thats really odd that the ebreak makes the noise only 1/2 of the time - My guess was warped rotor that was touching the pads as it went through....you are saying that when you completly released the ebreak that the sound was gone?
I would take everything apart but I just dont have the time or the equipment here (im at school) Hounestly to do the quick spin test I used the spare jack!!! hahah all my tools are at home.
