Lately I've been getting a small shuddering feel (from the gas pedal) on my 97 GLT when I accelerate at 55-60 mph. Not severe but it does feel odd. At other speeds, it feels great.

I had the timing belt done about a month ago and the control arms and short axle about a year ago. Why would it just happen at those precise speeds ?? The tires are almost new and I don't think its an alignment issue. Is this the dreaded CV issue ?

Thanks.

With my 97 850 I had a slight vibration at 100 km/h (appx 60 mph). It was caused by failing engine mounts. I would check the condition of the engine mounts and go from there. The 2 most common ones to fail are the front passenger side mount and the upper torque arm bushing. You might also notice a vibration in the car as well at idle. Another good indicator of worn mounts. Hope this helps!

Good luck

Corey

I have a slight shudder as i pass from 80-85 mph, could this just be an alignment issue?

Wheel alignment doesn't usually cause vibrations. Wheel balance does more often than not.

Thanks guys. Tomorrow I'm heading over to the tire shop to get my tires balanced again. I hope that does it.

Somehow I've got it in my noggin that it has something to do with the engine internals like the timing belt. Or maybe the fact that I drive a lot in that particular speed range. But then if it did, I think I'd feel much more of the shuddering up and down the rpm range.

I had something similar happen between 65-80, it turned out to be a flat spot in my front tire. Weird that it only did it at a certain speed range.
