I was looking about rear main seal online, and found that site

http://www.trustmymechanic.com/rear_seal.htm

that pretty good explanation what is it and what is broken. since i am thinking about swapping tranmissions, does anyone know that if it is possible just to buy that rubber seal in dealership and then put together with a new tranmission.

Thanks

labor is what kills you...all $1000 worth of it (and that would be cheap)

but you dont have to worry about that since you will do it yourself

Itīs not only rubber, also metal. smile.gif They cost 30 USD here, well worth it. Buy OEM, you donīt want to change this again later.
Easy to change it when the flywheel is on the ground, just make sure you mount it correct.
