blink.gif It appears that my '94 Volvo NA power steering is leaking from under the reservoir cap.

On the top of the container unit, there is fluid that is very sandy or granular.

When I remove the cap, the power steering fluid is almost at the refill mark. This situation has been for at least a month, but I have yet to add any fluid.

Should I get another cap from the dealer? I called them to see whether they sold a rubber washer separately, but you must buy the cap with the measuring gauge and rubber washer.

Will buying a cap do the trick?

Has anyone had this experience? huh.gif

I have the same issue. The sand/granular stuff is just dirt from the air moving through your engine bay mixing with the seeping fluid. Unless you can find a similar rubber washer at Home Depot or something, you need to just replace the cap.

smile.gif Thanx for the replies!!!

I ordered a reservoir cap from the volvo dealer parts department. It will be available this Tuesday.

The idea of the granular particles coming the bay area is very sound. I had purchased a magnet from one of the auto parts franchisers that has an antenna aerial extension attached to it. When I dipped it in the reservoir several times, nothing attached itself to the magnet. Perhaps, that explains it.

Thanx again!!! wink.gif
