I'm still pretty new to playing around with my car.

I installed new control arms/ball joints last weekend.

After doing that, everything seemed fine.

I drove back to school, and after letting the car sit for a few days, I took it out yesterday.

Whenever I brake, there's a pretty loud noise from the front drivers side wheel. I'm not sure what it. It's not like a popping noise, but more of a thud?

Could I have a caliper that's frozen? How bad is this to drive on? I'm 40 miles from home, so I can't complete the repair here unless I bring it to a shop (and I don't know of any around here).

What does this sound like to you guys? Should I just replace the brake pads on the front brakes? How hard of a job is this (I got so frustrated getting the dumb ball joints in..)

just double check every single bolt or nut you had loose when you did the work. the bolts that go through the control arm bushings need to be pretty tight or the sleeve will shift in it's bracket every time you hit the gas or brakes.

the ones that sound relevant would be the 2 bolts through the bushings, the tie rod end if you loosened it, the pinch bolt above the balljoint, or the 2 bolts attaching the hub assy to the strut housing.
