I've begun to notice that my car is vibrating more. Especially when im at a stop in idle. The RPM's stay the same just below 1000, but it seems to vibrate more then it did when i got the car. When i drive the vibrations are very minimal. Ive got a 93 850 with approximately 185,000 miles on it. Would new Engine mounts sound like a solution to the problem?
Thanks in advance,

Yeah, you probably have no mounts left and it's metal on metal.
My guess is the firewall mount. When that goes it will cause a lot of vibration. The stock one is puny and tears easily. Volvo changed the mount later and the revised mount is 2x beefier than the early mount.

I'm going to do this job myself, and some help from my dad. IPD's engine stabalizer mount has directions and said can be installed with common hand tools i think. Not sure if i need to lift the engine, but that shouldnt be a problem for me.

Well, IPD makes a poly engine torque mount bushing. I make poly firewall and lower tranny torque mounts. Then the rest of the mounts (side mounts, subframe mounts, etc) are pretty much OEM rubber mounts only.

With that amount of mileage on a car that old, you might want to consider the lower mounts, as well.
It's a bracket that goes on the front of the motor (passenger side of car), and two hydraulic mounts on either side (intake and exhaust manifold sides).

FCP Motor Mounts
9135178 - Bracket
6801722 - Left Hydraulic Mount
9434435 - Right Hydraulic Mount
Total cost was about $150 for OEM mounts. Labor is a bit intense, I had professonal help. You need to lower the subframe while supporting the motor.
If you can get under the car, you'll see two round, cone-shaped rubber mounts (those are the hydraulic puppies) and a bracket if you remove the right front wheel. It's best to consult a local that knows Volvos, as the labor on this can be very costly. It can definitely be done in a garage with jackstands and a lift, but it would be a whole-day project.
If you need more help for the DIY, PM me.

How would I order th mounts from you slater? Is there a specific website I can go to? I'm very interested.
By the way, I was able to look at the engine stabalizer mount (top of engine to firewall) and found it was completely shot. THe bushing is almost completely gone. Thanks for the help guys.
