my car is a '94 n/a manual.
My MAF has gone bad and I am looking for a new or used one-- I checked FCPGroton and they show 2 different sensors.
-An MAF for 93-94 n/a and 95 manuals #0280217002
-and one for 96-97 and 95 w/ auto #1275749
my question is-- will my car run correctly if I install the MAF for the newer cars? I'm guessing no, but I wanna know if I have more options.

I think the change over was in '95. Stick with what Groton says....I'd hate for you to put on the wrong MAF. by the way, sometimes you can find these on eBay....much cheaper. I didn't have time and had to buy one from the dealer. After taxes, it was about $200. Sometimes junk yards have them too. Just check around. No sense in buying a new one if you can help it.

My last car was a 93 850 glt and when my MAF went bad, I bought a 95' 850 MAF on ebay, and put it on but to my dismay the car ran for a few seconds sputtering black smoke and died so I would go with the 93-94 MAF

put a 95 T5 MAF in my 98 GLT.. worked with no problems..

Yep...the change over was in '95, but Auto and Manual transmissions were treated a bit differently. Go with what groton recommends. They seem to always be on the money for me.

That time frame is when the switched from OBDI to OBDII so the sensors are different for that reason.
