I dont kno if maybe this is only my car, but is it normal for the car to have the headlights on anytime the car is on?

is there a way to have only the "parking lights" (yellows) on while driving?

by the way i have a 94 850

welcome to the world of daytime running lights

for CAD-spec cars, pull the light switch out, and flick the white tab on the back to the right
i think it's "C", but i'm not sure

and search, this is a common question

one more thing, by removing the switch do u mean taking the knob off? because it doesnt want to come off

dont you have a little switch on the lower left of the headlight knob? you can use a tiny screw driver to turn it so drl's are off, i think there is some info in the manual about this?

his car is C-Spec.. in canada DRL's are a law.. so the cars don't have the switch like the US-SPec ones.

yeah and in the us they didnt have the drl until 95? 96? not 94 for sure.

also, i pretty much have my lights on all the time since they just shut off when i turn the car off. ive never had a headlight burn out in over 5 years when i first bought the car. i looked at the records and they were changed 3 years before i boguht the car. so mine have been good for 8 years so far. of course now that i said that, i'm expecting them to go out anyday now.

i do remember reading that certain volvos / certain headlights burn out really quick. what were some brands that last longer? also, someone said something about an inline resistor? any more info on that? just like to remember that stuff for when my headlights do go

ya my original headlight bulbs lasted for couple years too until one burned out. So i bought the "cool blue" ones and 2 months later, they both burn out.

I figured i could take off the DRL but i got no luck with that

A lot of people say that the Cool Blue lights tend to burn out quicker. I have SilverStars in my car right now and have my headlights on almost all the time with no problems. Then again its only been 4 months now.

theres a wire you can cut so just your parking lights come on. (in the off position) I did this long ago and cant remember the wire color. Maybe the green with red stripe??? If I get a chance I'll check it tomorrow.

I've been running silverstars for over a year now with no issues, and I have my headlights on all the time.
