This weekend I took my 1995 Volvo 850 GLT with 87,500 miles for a road trip from Lousiville, KY to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. When I got back from the trip, I noticed that there was a noise from the engine, and the most accurate way I can describe it is if you have ever heard a household fan's motor struggling. Not really loud, but a steady whining sound. The car is up-to-date with all the maintenance, although it does need an oil change in a few hundred miles. As far as I can tell the noise has not affected performance, but I would really like to know if anyone else has heard it after driving long distances. Thanks.

Hi. Could it have been the electric radiator fan kicking on?
