1998 V70 T5, 133k miles. This morning, when starting my car, the starter seemed to engage for a second, then seemed to have less resistance and turned a lot easier but not turning over the motor. Is this a solenoid, starter, or what? I replaced the t belt and h2o pump less than 30k miles ago. We have had some warm weather here in Denver for several days, then it snowed and was about 15 degress this morning - I don' think this should make a difference.

Second, I am looking at some 16" custom wheels that came off a 1995 TBird. According to some internet info, the wheels should fit my car. Can any of you guys verify this?

Thanks for the help!

ford in some cases does use the 5x108mm pattern, you'll need to find the ET of the rim.

centerbore is going to be your biggest hurdle IMO, if they're custom then you may be in the clear. However, IIRC, the fords use a 63mm centerbore and you have a 65mm CB.

Thanks for the wheel advice. I am going to mount a wheel on the front of my car and check.

Any ideas on my starting problem? I am going out in my garage this evening to try a few ideas, but any input would be appreciated.

probably battery low on amps. Check it with a multimeter for amps and VDC.

It was the battery. Although the bad battery seemed to have plenty of punch, it did not have the juice that our cars need to meet all the electrical needs. Thanks for your help. If I go with these new aftermarket wheels, I try to get a pic posted.

Could it also be that the flexplate/flywheel or starter gear has stripped/broken teeth to where it is not engaging. If seen it before on older car (50's-60's) cars.
