How many miles? I would think that your engine is burning it due to bad rings or valve guides. How is your exhaust? Black soot on the tail pipe?

pull the plugs and shine a light in to inspect cylinder condition for oil leakage.

Best wagon ever if the damn airbox would stop vibrating and it didn't have a Ford Escort headliner.

how many miles are you driving in the 10 day period? time is pretty much irelivant to an engines oil consumtion, and sounds like you are burning it past rings and or guides... has it been overheated to your knowladge?

Auto-Rx will clean the carbon out of ring grooves and recondition seals to greatly reduce oil consumption. My 850 went from a quart every 2500 miles to a pint every 5000. As well, the engine is smoother and peppier. Nothing, including Auto-Rx, will help worn parts or damaged seals.
My engine seems to run very well on 5W-40 oil. If 5W-30 is being used, except in frigid winter areas, I'd try 5W-40 (or 15W-40 in warm areas).

My wife drives it about 2-300 miles in a ten day period. I've tried heavier oil, high mileage oil, and a
product from LUCAS oils that was supposed to help slow down the consumption....
looks like its time to do a leak down test....
thanks everyone....

KLS,
I agree with KLS Auto-Rx will clean sludge and will also clean your ring packs.
