First off..llet me say if your temp sensor is on the leftt like mine(due to its early model)...more work for ya.

It starts out by buying the kit

a filter w/ instructions, the new black fitting

My instructions stunk out loud, yours prob will too

To start off for us early models, removing the temp sensor

HUGE PAIN

the torx screw is so very small you might get frustrated findding a tool thatll work...if your lucky youll get a perfect allen wrench..i wasnt.

after a pain to get the old useless black fitting out, and with the screw holes the old one had but new one didnt posed a problem

This becomes a game of drilling holes into the new piece of fitting so that itll fit in the hole...i changed to phillips screws, and cut the tips off. I screwed it neareer too the bottom towards the opening on the new fitting itself.

After this, took the extra step, and removed thhe cowl.(plastic covering youve been futsinng wiithh vents on itz) and removed the old trim which is now poking intoo the nice new filter...quite a pain

after removing that and sanding all the trim in that corner down, i fitted it all and it works great

In short: hopefully later models really do take like 25 miins tongue.gif

Where did you get the parts?

Where does the new filter assembly go in the car?

Anyone know of any problems putting one into a '96 855T?

Ken, Should work much easier in your 850. www.fcpgroton.com sells both the retro-fit kit and the filter. I think the kit is like $35. The filter goes under the cowl on the passenger side, under the windshield area from within the engine bay. Unscrew the several screws that are on the black cowl and the side of the cowl peels up. If you look into the large vent that is there, you'll see the blower fan blades. The filter fits right above this vent, under the cowl. Hope this helps. It's a good upgrade....will help save your A/C evap. too as less stuff will get in it to hold moisture and cause it to rust...main cause of the evap. failure.
