Blinking Arrow On Dash Of 94 850 Turbo

on my way back from work today, I noticed that my first gear was taking longer to shift into 2nd than usual...
I also noticed the blinking arrow sign on my dash board. I read in the owner's manual that it is a problem with tranny but not much more info...
When I got the chance to stop, I put the car in park, then back into drive and the first gear was shifting properly again. The damm arrow is still blinking though...
Is my tranny dying? Can it be that there isnt enough tranny oil?
HELP!!!
Thank you in advance!!

So basically that light will keep on blinking until I check the codes an reset it?
Also Bay13 says to check all codes before being able to reset... Does that mean I must read all codes for A1 or do I have to read all codes for all categories?
Sorry for the newbiness...

Pretty simple procedure, turn ignition on but dont start the car, foot on the brake, and ratchet the shifter from P to 1-2 back and forth about 20 times.
Good luck

Exactly, it is an intermittent problem. I'm 100% sure that the arrow will return for you. It's best that you replace the PNP, or you'll be putting alot of stress on the tranny, and you're just asking for it. What happens is that there is a grease inside the switch, and when it gets old or hardened, it locks the PNP up and doesn't allow your tranny to shift properly. You can pull the PNP and open and try to clean it, but it's better just to buy a new one and throw it in. You can get one for about $100 from FCP or Ebay. If you remove the entire airbox assembly, you'll be looking right at it. Very easy job to do yourself. Just do some searching on here, we've all replaced em!

This doesn't sound like a typical PNP problem and getting the transmission codes read will quickly clear this guessing game.
