I just recently picked up an S70 and have some questions about parts for regular maintenance. I have heard that Volvo brand parts are the most expensive and I was wondering if these parts are sold under a different manufactors name. I know for instance that on VW a lot of the electronic parts are made by Bosch and if you buy the Bosch part in stead of the VW part is was a lot cheaper. The parts I am interested in are as follows:

Oil filter
Air filter
Cabin Filter
Fuel filter

Thanks for the help

The oil filters are made by Mann. Check out FCPgroton.com and you'll get all the info you're looking for.

There are plenty of places to get genuine parts at prices much lower than most dealers sell them, this includes several vendors who advertise on this or other boards (brickboard for instance)

I purchased a "short" emergency brake cable for one of our 700s for $14 when the dealer wanted about $145!

It really pays to shop around.

Some vendors sell on ebay as well, such as Groton and Erie.

Ten Mann oil filters for $35 is a good example, and Mann informs readers on their web site that their branded filters incorporate all the features that their OEM filters incorporate. Don't forget to order drain plug gaskets (washers) at the same time.

Thanks all for your help. I know about the MANN fileter and nice to know the OEM fuel filter is made by Bosch. I am going to call FCP Groton today and order some parts.

Good call, you cant do much better than that. You may want to check eeuroparts.com also. Theyre prices seem to be competetive. Ex: 10 Mann Oil Filters = $34.90. And theyre offering free shipping on orders over $35.
