Hello,

I have a 1996 850R, I had the battery die in my key fob so i baught new batteries and it won't unlock or lock the doors now.

The key fob has a large rectangular button at the top and a smaller rectangular button about half way down, the fob is different than my brothers 1995 850 T5, his buttons are small square ones side by side.

When I push either it makes a faint clicking sound, like it usually does.
My key fob would never unlock the doors since I baught the car, it would only lock them.

I know on chev's and ford's you just turn on the ignition and push the button and it reprog's it self.

How do you do I reprogram the volvo one. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in and they would do it for $100.00can

Regards Scott.

I think on the 96' and newer the alarm system has to be programed by the dealer with a machine. On the older ones (maybe 95 and older) you have to make sure all the doors are shut and then turn the ignition from off to II (so that the dash lights come on) 5 times within 10 seconds. on the 5th time leave the ignition on and press one of the buttons on your fob. Turn the ignition off and check to see if it works.

Hope that helps. Can anyone verify this?
