Hi all,

I was just wondering if you guys can tell me what needs replacing for my leaking sunroof.

The situation is that it leaks only when it is heavily raining and the leak is a dripping coming from the drivers side interior near the front corner of where the sunroof meets the roof. It also seems as if it occurs if I am braking so the car's nose is diving a bit.

One of my ideas is that it is just drain plugs that are clogged.... If so how would I go about fixing that?

Thanks for your help

For your sake, I hope it's just a drain plug too. You can get a "snake" at the local hardware store and it works really well to clear it out. However, if it's like mine, you're in for more. Mine leaks in exactly the same location as yours and it's not the drains. In fact, it's not really even the rubber weather stripping. The problem is rusting of the metal band around the glass that the rubber weather stripping is attached too. Because of this, the water leaks in between the rubber stripping and the glass, and where the leak is, the water doesn't drip into the drains, but instead, into the cabin and down the inside of the roof mateial. Below is a link to the issue and what it's going to take to fix this, if your problem is the same as mine. Part numbers you'll need are as follows (I just got these parts and will be tackling the repair next week when I have time): #1390349 weather strip (all the way around) #6517622 weather stip under rail (lengthwise). #1161095-3 Adhesive for above (new part number # 1161768 replaces the previous one). http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=52360
Hope this information helps you.

Thanks for the thorough response MadeInJapan. I'm gonna try the drain plugs and if not guess it's time to buy some replacement parts!

Fixed mine today. I did a write-up about it here: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=46015&hl=
