Hi all,

I've noticed recently upon going WOT or close to it that my check engine light will flash (green triangle with orange background). I'm probably at around 15 or 16 psi at that time which should be perfectly normal with my PES chip. From the time when I let off the throttle the light continues to flash for 4-5 times.

Now that light has always been on for me since I installed an MBC or BOV (can't remember which one set it off). I also have the mods that are listed in my sig. I don't know if this has been happening all along but it seems that just lately its been doing that. What does a flashing CEL mean? It doesn't seem like anything is wrong as the car pulls just as fine when it does that compared to when it didn't.

Thanks for the help.

**Not sure if this belongs here or the performance forum so mods please move it if necessary

Okay now I'm under the impression this isnt the CEL even though it's in the spot that the CEL is in. I've attached a picture of what this light looks like. Hopefully this helps.[attachment=634:attachment]

That is your cel light. The symbol is lamba, Canada cars have them. The flashing light means multiple misfire and possible converter damage.

Wow that sounds pretty bad... I suppose it can't be converter damage since I passed emissions a year ago with flying colors. So I guess it is misfiring? What exactly is related to that and how would I go about diagnostics?

To reiterate the CEL only flashes SOMETIMES when I go WOT usually in higher (4th or 5th) gears.

Thanks for any help. I thinK i really need it as I had no idea this was such a serious issue before.

AT WOT, huh? If not your CAT then either fuel issues or spark issues. Check your ignition wiring and spark plugs and rotor first. If this isn't it, then I would suspect a fuel issue...maybe a clogged or partially clogged fuel pump. If this isn't it, then the fuel pump. Anyway, my speculations....

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, flashing cel lite is multiple misfires AND can lead to converter damage. I like to use factory parts, seeing problems with aftermarket.

CEL means you have emissions trouble and when it flashes, means you have SERIOUS emissions trouble.

Recently replaced my cap, rotor, and wires. I checked them and all the connections seem to be fine... Should my spark plugs be gapped in a certain way as I've been reading up on that. My car never really ran this high of boost until this past month.

Are there certain behaviours or sounds with the car when it is misfiring and I can detect and confirm that it is indeed misfiring that is the problem?
