yeah, people make WAY too big of a deal of them.
if you run a good synthetic oil in your engine (as you should) and maintain the car well, keep an eye out for excessive oil buildup on the IC piping, you'll be ok.
Go find a car you like, drive it, take some pictures, and come back and tell us about it...

The AC condenser, rear main seal, transmission, head gasket, bent wheels, and any number of other things stand to be more bother than a turbo!
by the way - We have had 4 - 740s, two turbo sedans, and two wagons, and all think that the 850s are worth the bother. The R model especially!

Perfect, the one I'm looking at only has 150k.

I'd look for each of the above to have been replaced or serviced in the maintenance records, as well as:
ABS/TRACS computer (if so equipped)
Headlight Wiper Motors (again, if so equipped)
Sunroof leaking
Oil pan O-rings (if clicking lifters bothers you)
They all seem to go ~150K mi.
Also...timing belt changes in the B5234T are essential; unlike the non-interference B230F.
Cheers and enjoy.

volvo, in their infinite wisdom, didnt spec a service interval for the automatic transmission in these cars, so it's entirely possible for that 150k mile car to be on the original fluid.
aside from that, what everyone else said sounds right.
