During the process of changing out my oil cooler lines, I decided I needed a little extra room. So I put a jack and block of wood under the oil pan and raised the engine about an inch. I had this clip shoot out from under the engine. Picture attached. Can anyone identify? It looks like the expanding ring from the half shaft. If it is, how did it get out? Did I damage anything?

The car was on jackstands already. I just needed a little extra space to work. I don't lift the whole car via the oil pan.
So where does this ring belong?

I think the half-shaft has a different shape ring w/out holes on the tips. And I'd say it's ipmossible for it to come out. I'll keep thinking about it and maybe I will remember where it belonges. I will let you know if someone doesn't do it before me.
