Anybody have a picture of the back of the trip computer? I'm trying to replace the bulb from under the dash and I can't locate the bulb socket. Please help! Thanks.

The two holes on the bottom of the cluster are the socket holes for the bulbs, right next to that green socket hole in the middle.

Got it! OK This is really tough to change from the bottom. I've got the old bulb out but you've got to be a contortionist to get the new bulb in. I think I need a trip to harbor freight to get some angled pliers or something...

wow, I think it's easier just to take the cluster out from the top and do it.

you may be right...this is not fun.
I was able to replace the bulb that's on the passenger side of the trip computer, and I was able to remove the driver's side bulb. Now I'm at the point where I've got the new bulb in the socket but I can quite get enough torque on it to make it solidly connect. One tip I learned is to use a 5/16 socket to hold the bulb to loosen and tighten it. But on the driver's side there's just not enough room for me to tighten it with the socket. There was someone else on the forum that was actually able to do this but I maybe they had some other trick they used.
Unless there's some miracle tool at Harbor Freight that I can use, I think I'm going to have to pull the cluster.
The good news is, if you have an idiot light out it looks very easy to change it out from the bottom.

i hope i didnt get everyone's hopes way up in making it sound easy. it's definitely not, as you now know.
my main reason for going that route is i didnt risk breaking any plastic tabs or whatever. the last time i took my instrument cluster out one of the plastic lugs on top that the spring clips attach to snapped off and rattles.
as murphy's law predicts, soon as it all went back in, the trip computer light went out, so i decided to figure out a way to change them from the bottom. managed to get both done, though it definitely wasnt easy.
my main reason for going that route is i didnt risk breaking any plastic tabs or whatever. the last time i took my instrument cluster out one of the plastic lugs on top that the spring clips attach to snapped off and rattles.
as murphy's law predicts, soon as it all went back in, the trip computer light went out, so i decided to figure out a way to change them from the bottom. managed to get both done, though it definitely wasnt easy.

No problem!! It's definitely worth trying, especially if it's the passenger side light on the trip computer. There seems to be a little more room than on the other side. I was able to replace that one without too much difficulty. The drivers side is a little tougher. Got the old bulb out and the new one is in but I suspect not tight enough to light up. Bought a pair of bent-nose pliers today in the hopes that will be the ticket.

if you take the cluster out enough, it only takes 10 minutes tops
faster if you have a power screw driver

I'm like bloc in that I hate to remove the dash cover if I don't have to and invite broken plastic parts and more squeaks/rattles. I'm going to spend one more evening in the footwell and then call it quits and pull the dash pad.
