Under hard acceleration, shifting from 1-2-3 produces a lot of jerky vibration. Feels like the gear change produces a real shock to the frame.

It would appear that the upper mount needs to be replaced (which will be replaced with the FCP polyurethane if there are no objections compared to the IPD mount).

But Iam left wondering if the tranny mount should be replaced?

Truth is I'd rather not right now unless its the culprit since I just dropped $800 on recent repairs.

Tranny mount is not real common. Mostly the upper mount and the front engine mount. Also check the part of the upper mount that bolts to the firewall.

Jack up your car, remove passenger front wheel. There is a plastic nut holding the wheel well plastic cowl on, remove that. You should see a crease in the plastic where you can fold it up, do so and secure with vice grips. Get a flashlight and inspect the mount right there: it's a bracket with rubber bushings. You'll pretty much know it's broken, but here's a pic for ref:

while you have the wheel off and are looking at the mount, put a crowbar under the engine there and see if you can lift the engine, it will help you determine what kind of shape your mount is in.

Mine was still holding the engine up off of the subframe so it looked OK, but I could lift the engine right out of the mount - when I removed the old mount I could see that the rubber was all chewed up on the top side, where it inserts into the metal frame.

Upper engine mount (urethane one) and the mount at the other end of the torque rod that bolts to the firewall solved my rough shifting issues - total was about $40 or so for both.
