sometimes my abs/tracs lights come on for no reason. If I pull over, turn off the car, and restart, the lights normally go away. I think this is the sign of a fading abs/tracs module?

could also be either the ignition or the shifter.

You are right, that is exactly what it is. I had that same problem for some time. Turn it off and back on, and the lights are out, but come back after a while. I lived with it for months, then finally replaced the control module and the problem was gone.

The lights come on indicating that traction control and ABS are offline, so to speak. It just means they are no longer working, but you can drive the car just fine. Like Gregg said, if you turn the ignition off and back on, they will probably go away, but it is only temporary. You will most likely have to replace the control module, or have yours repaired. You can drive the car just fine the way it is. The CEL you are getting is probably not related, so you will need to check that to see what it is.

Trac/off and abs is one module

I did mine two years ago, here is the link http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/Volvo_...lvo_V70_ABS.htm

Exactly what my car was doing. After starting the car the ignition switch wasn't springing back so I just turned it back alittle and all these lights dissapear. So next time there on try messing with your ignition switch alittle.
