I just replaced rotors and the parking brake is rubbing no matter how much adjustment.

Right now ive got the adjustor screwed all the way down and i still hear a slight rub, though dont encounter any real resistance.

Ive worked on drum brake setups before... im kind of at a loss of why they are still scraping on the volvo.

Is this just par for the course with the volvo brake setup? What else might I try to get it smooth.

thanks a million

-make sure that the parking brake assembly clips haven't broken and it's just floating back behind the rotor, i just went through this a month ago. somehow when i put the rotor back on i tweaked the brake assembly too much and broke one of the clips that are attached by a brad...this lets the whole thing tweak itself and can cause nasty problems.

-if the tabs aren't broken adjust the lever inside the car (at the base)

-also, i don't know how much you have driven it since the change, but the parking brakes can drag on some crap loosened up during the change for quite a few miles after working on the brakes

I'll replace the hardware just in case....

but do your wheels spin in the rear without any rubbing sound ? I hear a light gritty scrape... mabye im worried about nothing

edit.... by rubbing sound i mean up on jack stands spinning the wheel

it doesn't sound like you have driven at all on them yet, if it is still doing it after about 30 miles, then worry about (as long as it is a just a minor sound and the wheel spins ok) keep in mind the lug bolts torqued is what straightens the rotor out, it won't be even close until you do that and after compressing the calipers they will be whacky until you press the brake again a few times

specifically im wondering do others cars making slight rubbing or scraping sounds when jacked up and spinning the rear wheels?

im wondering if im missing something stupid adjustment wise... most cars ive worked on had drums, so this rear setup is new, and i dont remember what it was like before the work
