So when I power up one of the HIDs, it flashes brightly about 5 times in a second, and then turns off... Is it dead? sad.gif

it can be the bulbs or the ballast, the best way to do is change the ballast each side and see what happen, and then do the same with the bulbs. Is hid kit? or oem?

Same thing happened to me, and it happened to be the bulb. What you can do is switch bulbs (put one side to the other) and see if the problem follows. More than likely, its the bulb....Same exact problem I had.

Other side is working fine. Haven't had a chance to swap the bulbs around yet. This is a Jamaica2G HID kit, so I doubt it's the ECU wink.gif

Then why is this in Maintenance if your talking after market parts? Unless its a 55watt kit your going to have to rig it. The other option is to get your dealership to flash your cars ECU for HIDs.

Cos I didn't know where else to put it? Please feel free to move it to a more appropriate place - thanks smile.gif

The kit has been working fine in the past. I had the same symptoms with this ballast and buld in 2 separate cars.

Both 2001+?
You need to try them in an older car or just use the kits harness and wire direct to the battery. That will rule out a bad part.

Fixed. It turns out one of the clips on the HT wires to the capsule had broken and there was a gap in the contact - it obviously arced across for the starter voltage but the run voltage was not enough to bridge... smile.gif
