A few weeks ago, my friend's 99 V70R started to rev high, overheat and broke down on the side of the highway. The speedometer and trip computer went blank, and the ABS and brake failure light came on. They had it serviced at a dealership where the cooling fan was replaced. Yesterday the thing went blank, and those two lights came on again, but the car itself was fine. She pulled over just in case and waited a few minutes, then was on her way.
Anyone have any ideas?

I HAVE A 99 V70R SW WITH THE SAME ISSUE , IT IS NOW INTERMITENT. I HAD SOMEBODY PLUG A SCANNER AND IT REPORTED NO SPEED SENSOR OUTPUT ( NO TELLING FRONT REAR OR WHAT ) I HAD THE DEALER TAKE A LOOK AND THEY SAID THAT THE ABS MODULE IS GETTING READY TO GO BAD, THAT EVENTUALY IT WOULD LEAVE THE ABS, TRACTION AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITH THE ODOMETER AND SPEEDO INOP. VERY SELDOM BUT HERE AND THERE WHEN THE CAR STARTS ROLLING FROM A FULL STOP WHEN THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE LID UP IT WILL START FROM SECOND GEAR AS IF THE WINTER SWITCH IS TURNED ON. I FOUND A PLACE IN WEST PALM THAT REBUILDS THE MODULES FOR TO CHEAP ,($75 2 YR WRTY, $120 5 YR WRTY) BUT I'M KIND OF HESITANT OF HAVING THIS DONE, ANY INPUT ANYBODY ON THIS LAST.
