A few days ago, in city traffic, my car (an 04' s60 2.4 FWD) lost traction on a wet road. I was T-Boned drivers side near the rear door at about 35-40. I'm alright because thank god the curtain airbags deployed. My rear door, quarter panel, airbags and possibly my front door are ruined. since i was hit near the wheel, it is bent outward, so the rear axle is possibly ruined. i spun after the hit and popped up on the curb because i was hit pretty hard. there may be some frame damage. Do you think my car is totaled? if not how much do you think repairs would be? the auto shop hasnt even taken a look at it yet.

Sorry 'bout your mishap. Sounds like the car did it's job - you are cognative - and typing.
So - speaking of cognative - if your s60 is FWD - there is no rear axle to worry about. - And it's really
hard to tell from just the words that make-up the description of the damage.
Pictures would give the viewer a fair chance at a guesstimate.

There are a lot of variables there... depends on if they quote used parts or dealer parts.. it will be a hefty bill but nobody can guess the total value of the damage.

Well, my mom's CRV (fully loaded) and only a year old was in a similar situation. Her car was totaled. I'm guessing because of airbags, all the body work and framework, they'll total it but can't be sure.

here is a picture of the wreck through the fence at the auto shop. Not too good quality as it was taken on a phone.

That's still not enough info. You have to look under it too. My friends mustang was hit in a similar fashion but his car was worth 9-10 grand tops. They totaled his.

there are many factors on if they ill total it or not, one being how much it will cost to re-install the airbags. my friend had a newer 300zx and when his airbag went out they totaled his car and there wasnt that much damage to the vehicle. plus we had an old bimmer and the whole back frame was bent when we bought it (not knowing) and the crash i guess was similar to yours but they still totaled it

on blue book it looked like trade in for my car was around 14k. I heard they did salvage value+repair cost=x$

if X>70% of the cars value then they total it. sorry for the algebra lol.

beleive it or not i hope they total it because

A) it will never drive the same
cool.gif with what they give me for it i can get an slightly older (01) xc70 turbo (which is what i really wanted anyways)
C)repair costs will be a oh yeah! already
