So I blew an intercooler hose today.

I was driving down the main street here in my town and someone was driving slowly. So I decided to pass them and I went into boost.

While doing so I got into the other lane and a second later let off the gas and BOOM. I was lucky and there was a empty parking lot right there on the right hand side and pulled into it. Christmas tree lights lighting up and all.

I shut the car off and popped open the hood. I look and I see that my Upper intercooler to Turbo hose has popped off. I took it off to inspect it, nothing wrong with it other then some oil on the inside. I wiped the oil off of the inside.

Then I put it back on and tightend the OEM hose clamps and was on my way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The question becomes are T-bolt clamps in my future? Should I buy them? I ask this because this is the second time this has happened to me. And it has been the Upper intercooler to Turbo hose that has blown off both times. First with the stock OEM hose and today with my Silicone hose.

I have read some threads on T-bolt clamps. How they can be tightened and possibly crush the pipe and everything else. I am no welder either and don't know of any aluminum welders in York, PA anymore that could weld a bead onto the pipe.

So what do you guys think?

Hey Rob, IMO the t-bolt clamps are a better way to go over the traditional worm drive clamps. they're wider, and they don't cut into the hose like worm drive clamps.

T-bolts are the way to go. I had the same problem and was able to get by with a worm-drive clamp that was a little wider than stock. A little hair spray on the inside of the hose where it contacts the pipes helps keep the hose in place (naturally while still being silky and manageable laugh.gif ). Make sure to do this with the car off on a cool engine and only a little bit on the inside of the hose.
