Lol. $162 for front pads??? That sounds outrageous.

Good luck getting your brakes don. I would help you out with it but I am too far away. There should be some people on here who would be willing to help, skin or no skin.

Keep in mind we here on VS are not normal people. Everyone else has no idea what is going on with there rides and when they come to the dealership they are getting (in their minds) the best service available. I do the best I can and use a ton of lube!!!

I got my brakes and my 45K service done.

Labor on rear brakes only was $85. My front were at 60%. No need for roters for either f/b.
The 45K service cost me $210.

I felt that it was fair pricing.

whhat do you all think?

thanks,
Buffoonery

Sounds pretty good to me actually. How do the brakes feel? How does the car feel?

Sounds like you took it to a dealership. That is about what we charge. If I ever move to Cali, I'll save you some cash. Promise.

It does. Even in Oregon you'll save some $$$. Brakes are a simple thing to upgrade/ replace/ along with air filter and fuel filter. Let us folks know what you need.

Took my mechanic my 4 rotors (from ebay- Brembo cross drilled and diamond slotted) along with Volvo pads, shims and Blue racing brake fluid. He replaced all rotors and put pads on, flushing my brake fluid. He also replaced the gaitor at the bottom of my steering column that was driving me crazy from squeeking when it's cold (had the part since last Christmas- just never got around to it). Only took him a couple of hours and he charged me $100 labor. Everything was smooth sailing on my 50 mile drive home 2 nights ago. My mechanic even "seasoned" my rotors for me! This is the same guy that did my PCV replacement last year for $125 and recently installed a Raxle half shaft CV axle for $25. I love it that he allows me to bring him my parts, thanks me for allowing him to work on a Volvo, and doesn't charge much at all! He says that it's an honor to be able to work on such a nice piece of precision machinery when most of what he does are the farmer's tractors and pickup trucks here in Tennessee where I live. If anyone lives near Sweetwater, TN and needs a good, honest and inexpensive mechanic, let me know- I'll give you his phone number.

I didn't go to a dealer. I can't. Don't want my miles on redord.

Went to an independent.

so you think I was over charged? or there was no discount at all?

My breaks feel great.
