I am new. I have read all of the lengthy Seafoam thread, and I know everyone seems to not want to talk about this anymore, but I have one tiny question...

I want to have the vacume suck a half-bottle of this stuff into the head.

I have a 1999 V70 R AWD.

Everyone says to use a spare vacume nozzle by the throttle body. To me, it seems like on this car I can not reach anything on the throttle body without taking off the intake manifold.

There are two hoses on the manifold itself -- I think one is the return from the CBV, so I think that one sucks into the manifold. The other is the brake booster, and I think that also sucks into the manifold.

My thought is to remove one of these and stick a hose on the nossle and stick the hose into the bottle of Seafoam and slowly let it suck up about half of the bottle.

Is there one of these better to use than the other, OR are these not a good idea, and you can point me to a better place to do this.

thanks in advance.
you guys are great

Joe

Welcome to the boards smile.gif
Your car does not have a throttle body, but a ETM: Electronic throttle module. There should be a hose with a banjo fitting right on your manifold....I believe you can use that...just splice the hose, get a T fitting to hook up the hose as it was and run another hose off the third leg of the T to the seafoam can. Plug the hose that will be feeding the seafoam to start the car, then unplug, and dip into the seafoam.

thats my advice...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you, Rodrigo.

Help me out here... The banjo thing you mention must be under the manifold on the left side. That is the only thing I can figure out.

That would be better than any of the other hoses?

I will post a pic of my car when I figure out how to do that!

I like the photo in your signature... I am guessing with a name like Rodrigo it is not you... but if it is... the surgery seems successful!

thank you

the banjo fitting is a circular clamp that holds the hose on the nipple that is on the manifold.

Back to the issue...

What line should I use? The CBV, the brake booster, or the banjo thing (which I think is a crankcase vent)? And should I cut into it, add a T and cap it off when not in use; or should I just pull it off and put another hose onto the nipple to suck up the Seafoam?

So... 2 questions...

1) which hose
2) how to use it (cut and T) or pull off

thanks

I would take the smaller (skinnier) of the two vacuum hoses off from the bottom of the large intake hose (the one from the air box to the turbo) and suck the stuff up from there. The larger hose goes to the oil trap. The other end of the smaller skinnier goes into the intake but it is under the manifold which would be a pain to get off. If you can't get to it then cut this hose and suck up the seafoam from the cut hose. You can always use a small piece of silicone tubing with zipties after the process to patch the hose back together. Either that or put a "T" connector in the hose with a cap on the opened nipple so you can do this again in the future if you want.

I would have used the one right off the manifold...the same one onto which I tapped for my boost gauge.
