2000 S70 2.4 Non-Turbo

I have been experiencing a sporadic missfire/stumble at idle and at lower rpm's as the car begins to take off from a stop. This has been an ongoing thing for the last few months and for most of the time using super unleaded fuel resolved (masked) the issue. However, it never threw a code to know which cylinder this mis was happening on until just this past week.

I have code P301 which I was told was a misfire on cylinder 1. I want to move the coil from that cylinder to another cylinder to see if the misfire follows the coil or stays on cylinder 1.

Which cylinder is 1? I assume it is the cylinder closest to the timing belt but, want to ensure it isn't the one closest to the transaxle.

Thanks for any help.

And that is exactly what the pros do... the ole' switcharoo and see if the missfire moves. You probably have a weak coil pack or crappy plugs wink.gif

The coils often fail but I have seen plug problems with cars that are driven hard. Often times the coils flat die, and the plugs will randomly misfire...
