Lately on my S40, I've been using it all the time. The engine feels more free to rev through the gears. Is it bad for the transmission to use this on an everyday basis as far as long/short term usage is?

That is true. I am wondering if the 5sp in my car can use it with a TCU upgrade because it is the same tranny. Would only be worth it if it was under $1k I think though.

Not an excuse. I learned on stick which wasn't much of a challenge. Both of my parents only drive stick. Geartronic is missing a clutch which makes it much easier for a beginner. There's no foot-hand coordination.
I've never been a fan of geartronics. I prefer the real thing.

I hate using it on the S60, the car drives horrible in that mode. I think it's the weight of the car and the sport suspension it's just too sloppy. But on the S40 it drives much better. Probably because I can choose the gears instead of letting the computer go straight to 5th gear. Heh.
