Well, it looks like I've found the first defect on the new-to-me S60 we've had for close to three months.

Coldest day yet this fall... 32 F this morning. Opened the door and sat down...quickly asking myself "why did you buy another car with leather...). Started the car and went to turn the seat heater on for the driver's side. Started off towards work, expecting to have a warming sensation on my frozen back. Nothing. Got to the highway and still nothing.

About this time, I suspect there to be a malfunction somewhere in the seat heater's electric circuit.

What I can say is the LEDs illuminate when I push the button. What I can also say is the passenger side is functional right now.

Is there something remarkably special about the seat heaters for the P2 cars? Is there something I can troubleshoot myself? I recall the wire broke in the wiring harness leading to the seat thermostat on my 850... but with two heat settings for the S60, I'm a bit more leary to start the process.

I'm going to check the obvious... a broken, pinched, or disconnected wire, and check for any blown fuses.

Winter's quickly approaching! Does someone have advice?

Thanks,

Nate

I don't know if you can swap switches on the S60s like you can the 850s, etc. Troubleshooting wise, you might remove the seat for easier access and then disconnect both upper and lower heat grids and check them to confirm continuity. If one of them lacks continuity, I think neither of them will work. Could be the seat pressure switch or the controller module at the seat frame too - just gotta diagnose..
