Upon my last visit to the Volvo dealer for basic service (oil, etc.) the dealer suggested having the engine cleaned? Is this something that is common practice with Volvo dealers? I have a 2000 S70 with 130K miles.
Is this something I can perform at home with some simple green and a hose? Or would you guys not recommend it at all?
Thanks in advance!

usually not done, unless you had an oil leak and the engine is all full of gunk.
You can do it yourself, but cover ignition coil and distributor cap with a plastic bag. Buy a degreasing spray ans spray dirty areas and just wash off with garden hose, and stay away from the top of engine, as water can accumulate in the spark plugs area and cause misfiring.
