Little Brake Dust Particles: Removed

Recommended Posts

I was cleaning my Pegs today for Swedish car day and noticed that in some areas right by the spokes there was a slight buildup of brake dust...like little micro pitting areas. I washed each wheel down, and begas wet sanding 4000, 6000, 8000, and then polished with Meguiars Scratch-X. They came out quite nice, but the trick is to sand very very lightly and avoid any corners on the surfaces...even though the paper is a fine grit, and it is wet, it will still remove some paint on sharp edges....just be careful and take your time.

The resilts are quite nice. I'll try and post pics later on today, since I am currently on lunch break from preparing the wagon for the meet tomorrow.

Just some info for those of you who ca't get those little spots out. :)

have you tried using claybar on the wheels? I heard/read that it works very well for removing built up brake dust

P.S. make sure you get some Wheel Wax on those!

PPS - any wax works well too Rod.

except for when it gets baked off from the extremely high heat from the brakes...wheel wax is made to better withstand the higher temperatures
