Level Ten Trans.

Recommended Posts

well i have a level ten trans and right now its f'ed up and they dont wana help me out.. they keep telling me that its a wiring issue and this BS that just keeps the car out of their hands. I am currently working on gettin them to take it back and fix it but there really p!ss!ng me off as of now... Also the trans IMO should be rebuilt and if u were going to have level 10 do it i would recomend they have the car so they can work out any bugs that come up. When i first had the trans done, their service was great and it was done quickly, i drove to NJ and picked it up and brought it back to my volvo mechanic and they put it in.. it wasnt shifting right so level ten sent a roll-back to york PA where the work was being done at flickingers and then towed it to NJ and worked it out. However they told me their tow guy was "on vacation" and id have to come pick up the car if i didnt want to wait forever but i went up to get the ar and after i left about 20 mins away, an o-ring broke and i was SOL with a pool of ATF under my car.. not too happy for driving 4 hours to the place and this happens. So i call Pat (the guy who im dealing with at level ten) and he says ill send my tow guy down and get your car.. happens the tow guy seemed to be back from "vacation" very quickly <_< Well they take it back and within a week it was done and they towed it to my house (hanover PA) and everything was fine and i was happy. after the 300 mile break in period i LOVED it, its just a constant pull and u can barely feel the shifts. I got the car back the friday before thanksgiving and has been fine until christmas day  when 2nd gear took a $hit and it dosent like to go in and out of first. I had 2 different mechanics take it for a drive and they tell me the same thing.. theres not enough pressure to shift or hold the clutch in gear. Ive been told by level ten the problem was, 1st my air intake WTF, 2nd claim was tuning but then how did my tuning just happen to be off all of a sudden? then the last call to pat ended in him telling me that it could be my ignition switch WTF or my speed sensor even though my speedometer works, then he said that id have to check all the wiring because it looked "worn" after all this i just want a car that is reliable and since ive been drivin my friends 5-speed jetta (dont hate now) i love shifting.. while the only downfall of a manual is not being able to get road head  ALSO the 3K stall converter kills your gas mileage cause mine is down to 14mpg!!!

Sorry for the long post but this is what you could be in for... i woudnt wish my luck with them on anyone

I had my auto trans built by a private tech, I gave him all the parts, had them sent away etc and re-built. Basically the same crap that level 10 does but 100 times better. I had no problems with my trans and the whole thing was put together in front of me so I made sure it was done right. I would recommend you just doing it privately and getting all the parts seperate and having someone you trust put it together. what was done to mine was:

High performance clutches

-new bushings and bearings

-complete overhaul/ new heat treated/ strengthend direct drive kit

- high performance trans filter ( had a external filter also/ dual filter setup)

-all planetary gear sets treated for high temp applications

-new custom designed valve body with titanium and alumium internals

-heat treated input shafts

-kelvar bands

The guys that are interested in building up your auto trans need to do research. It took me almost a year to find everything I was looking for and I picked out the parts myself and found a trans mechanic that new what he was doing. I also was constantly ceaking up on him to make sure he was putting everything back together correctly. The key to a well build auto is percison and you need to be aware of what you are doing. The thing with level ten is I really dont think they ever put there transmission to the full test, to make sure that everything works correctly. Every transmission is different.

ok, i'm totally bummed out about levelten. anyone have any good experiences?

anyone tried these guys:

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/

they even have a kit for the 4T65E

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/alto_2.htm

i don't know if this will work with the 4T65EV-GT i have though... any opinions?

If I remember correctly they where the ones I got my high stall torque converter from. Great people to deal with. Thought they did great work. If I remember correctly the stall speed was set at around 4,500 rpms
