[COLOR=blue]My 2001 S80's AM radio is terrible. Bad AM Reception and Background noise. I can hear the engine firring.
Any idea's on a fix?
I did find in the Manual a section about AUM (Advanced User Mode) Page 137 I think. This mode has a few features. The SRC is stated to reduce the noise of AM reception. I have played with this, but not sure it has helped. Also I'm told that this is a Stero Reception Control, that works only on FM. Volvo says AM but others say FM.
Any Ideas?

well, i have a 01 s80 as well, and my am works just fine....maybe you have something wrong with your system.. do you have the upgraded stereo? details plz... And do you get bad reception all the time? If your live in the city, and there are lots of powerlines, it can cause bad reception to both bands.. But give me some details, mabye i can assist you.

Sorry for not getting back to you, been out of pocket. I understand the Power Line issues as well as setting sun on AM. But my Noise is so bad that I can not listen to the radio. This only effects the AM band and is not effected by the location. Open road, wooded street city or suburan space.
It is a stock head end with CD and Tape.
Thanks for any insight
