Is it possible to setup an ipod + 2 amps + a sub all to the OEM head unit ?

I'm thinking about doing this..and getting rid of my Alpine 9815...

Thanks.

- Jay

edit: One amp is to drive the speakers and the other is for the sub..

I think it can be done by:

Using Anthony's cable for the amps and drlava's cable for the ipod (cd changer port)...

Does that sound right?

Well...

If I had an iPod - I really wouldn't need the head unit for it's mp3 capablities..
I don't use the amp on it...
The two line text becomes useless to me if I use the ipod most of the time.
The only thing good about it would be the Bass Engine Pro, tuner stuff, etc. - mostly setting stuff which is it really that big of a difference vs. stock ?

I know the alpine ipod connector thing is out in september for $100 but I don't think two lines of text is that fun to be searching through compared to seven lines (when searching) on the ipod...

I may get another alpine unit, but just dumbed down to save money

When you're using aftermarket amps in the whole setup you're going to lose a lot of sound quality when you use the OEM stereo. You're going from about 4v preamps to probably something around 1v or so. So you're really degrading you're overall sound when you'd do this. IMO, keep the Alpine in there.

Yeah I came to the same conclusion...

So I just bought the JVC AR800 HU..it's a very nice HU (I haven't installed it yet).
It costed me like $140...

Sold the Alpine for $265...So gained like 125

As long as I got something back after buying the iPod smile.gif

Yeah, you didn't go wrong by picking up a JVC, I've had multiple compliments on mine since I've picked it up. The black plastic that jvc uses matches really well with our dashes and it give a clean install look. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!
