BomBot® EOD

IRT Inc.® delivered over 2,300 BomBots® (more than any other robot developer) to U.S. forces in 2006 and was awarded DoD Program of Record status.

The all new BomBot® is capable of deploying a 10 lbs explosive counter measure to IED or UXO. With its new platform, the BomBot® EOD is more durable, powerful, and rugged. System improvements include military batteries allowing more than three hours run time, new improved pan/tilt mechanism and cameras and a new control system for enhanced operating distance and video feed quality. The BomBot® represents the future of easy-to-use, rapidly-deployable, affordable EOD robot systems.

And the reason is why ? Oh since it has to have over done milspec parts .

Espically for something that will problally end up being blown up.

Oh since it has a camera on it and has a acutated arm its worth $700 more

These 20-inch-by-20-inch robotic vehicles can carry 10 pounds of C4 explosive and travel 35 miles per hour. As they can be remotely controlled by soldiers from 1,600 feet away, they can be safely used to detonate IEDs. And each Bombot will cost only $5,000 and replace previous robots costing more than $100,000.

 @ previous $100k

You didn't know? Slap a milspec on it and the value quadruples.
