Were you in the Princeton area again?

I was. We have a business in Cranbury that I was working with helping them think through their market growth strategy. It was an in and out kind of visit and since I had to get up so early to make the Monday 6 AM flight I was beat by the time I hit the hotel that evening.

That would have been hilarious  Flight UA1139, departed at 5:55pm.

Talk about coincidences. I was Flight UA 1756 gate C94 at 7:04 PM which was just down the hall from your gate C81.

I didn't read too much into what Clarkson said and didn't do but just from watching/listening to that it seems like May is pretty upset. Damn. Gonna be weird without them. Maybe they will all quit and take over the dreadful American version.

They did state they would all walk off if he was fired. It's done, now let's see it they keep their promise. It was a great show with the 3 of them, the dynamics made that show. Anyone who's offended by his humor can switch channels, I never took a single French joke personally.

Slapping a producer around is poor form, but I still think the BBC overreacted.

Up to a year ago I guess Jeremy was 30% owner of Top Gear (not positive on that though). Once BBC bought him out for 12 million, this crap all started. My guess is most of this has something to do with the politics behind the buyout. They'll have to search far and wide to replace Jeremy IMO, the Aussie version is OK but hardly good, and the American version is worse than most of those idiotic car shows on Velocity.

I hope he either comes back (which obviously doesn't look like it's going to happen), or James and Richard walk with him and they all start another show together.

It's the British Broadcasting Corporation. I guess they took the stiff upper lip concept a little too far.

I'm really surprised. I figured this was a bunch of fuss over what would ultimately end in a wrist slap. So I wonder, is there more to this story? Like previous incidents, maybe where people let some shit slide, and this was the final straw?

I've encountered a surprising amount of people who have almost no interest in cars who really enjoy Top Gear. I guess now I don't feel as bad about cutting my cable subscription in half and loosing BBC America in the process - there's nothing else of value on that channel

Deeper details in the Telegraph. Sounds like it was the physical altercation with a Star attacking a junior staff member that "crossed the line."

I'd love to see a Netflix version of the trio as they discuss in the article. The BBC are clearly willing to kill the golden goose and don't realize how much the chemistry matters with that show.

An earlier article claims he was already on notice after previous controversies

Good call, that's the only reason I get those channels myself. What else is there? Orphan Black or whatever that stupid show is? Star Trek reruns?

Give me a shout next time you're around and we'll grab some food.

My hope is that they reunite for a show somewhere else but I doubt it will happen. Both May and Hammond have other shows they host for the BBC and I'm sure their contracts prohibit them from working for another network at the same time.

He shouldn't have punched his producer in the first place, that's just poor form.

Get a vpn subscription from a service that has exit points in the UK for example. I cut cable about 18 months ago and don't miss much.

I got a vpn service originally for the Olympics so I could watch the BBC and CBC streaming service last winter. CBC had great NHL coverage and the BBC was great for F1 and world cup. You can trick the app store into thinking you are in another country by providing a valid postal code. So I installed apps from ITV (also UK) BBC iplayer, BBC sport to my iPad. All for $50/yr.

I eventually configured a router to connect to the vpn so I could stream stuff to my chromecast. Like I said its great not only for UK, but Canada and I used the Australian exit points for the Bathurst 1000.

Will do. The restaurant the team wanted to go to didn't really pan out as what I would call decent food for the price. Next time I'll bow out as feeling ill and you can show me a better venue.

Sounds good! If you don't mind me asking, what restaurant was it?
