 Not exactly.  I drank beer while watching my friend do his and invent a few new swears getting to that third bolt.  So I took the "easy" way out and did mine outside the car when I replaced the head.

Started the manual swap

... and fuck that banjo thing on the back of the intake manifold.

Bit late here, but nice work so far Lucas!  Here are a couple pictures of how I deleted that banjo bolt on my car.  I highly recommend doing this on any/all 99/00 cars, that banjo is a pain in the ass to deal with.

Use heater hose to remove the stock banjo fitting on the PCV system

Use a BMW E39 drain plug with a Volvo crush washer to seal off the manifold

Then tee the vacuum line into the vacuum line that comes off the "bubble" above the throttle.  Not the most detailed picture ever, but you can see where I tee'd the line and looped it back under the manifold.  I know it looks like a lot of extra hose, but be careful and watch for potential kinks while doing this, I have had that happen to me in the past with different (shorter) line routing.

Good call Andy, my dad's XC still has a tiny leak from that stupid banjo fitting when we did his PCV a few months ago. Nothing to worry about but just very annoying. I will do this with him over a weekend when he gets out of recovering from knee surgery.

I forgot that your engine was out when you received that CBV. Way easier! That third bolt is a bitch. I have k24 so CBV stares you right in the face and could quite possibly be easier to do than an oil change

I cut about an inch off from the short end of an allen key. Can now easily get that 3rd bolt from under the car.

Drove the M3 on 400 mile trip with out a single hiccup. Flawless and smooth with 25mpg. Coolant was a little low but probably was air bleeding out.
