Desperately in need for an update... excl.gif excl.gif

Coming this week - John finished the exhaust as well as a few other things. I sold my 242 and just got a new DD [to be revealed....] so I'm going up there on Friday and Saturday to wrap up a lot of work on the thing - it will be worth the wait.

Please ditch that spoiler, it is hideious.

poor poor sunroof. now with all the rigidity of the rollcage why not keep the functionality of the sunroof?

It's a racecar - it's not a big deal. We had to eliminate the sunroof to fit the rollcage - the sunroof has a tray that sits about an inch or two below the roof that we had to cut out to get the main hoop as close as we could. I did'nt want to weld it up and screw up the nice paintjob the car has - I can deal with screws.

Just ordered the wheels for the car earlier in the week....just found out though they have to get the castings from England and have them sent over here to be machined so they're saying it's going to be 8-10 weeks before they're in my hands. I've been patient enough so it should'nt be a big deal. I can find other things to nitpick on the car in the meantime [interior/cage painting, dash cleanup, etc]

17X8 all around, ET30. I'm going to be running Ben's extended studs with some spacers from him as well [25mm front, 32mm rear] which should make everything [including the S60R brakes] fit perfectly.

The tires are sitting here in my room. They are 225/45/17 Hoosiers typically ran in the Grand-Am Cup series. They are not legal for the class I am going to run the car in Time Attack with, but since the first event I plan on running is not until later in the year [Redline TA at Laguna Seca] I figure I will order another set of wheels with some DOT legal track rubber so I'll have two sets to play with depending on what I am doing [track days/time attack/etc]

I'll post detailed pictures of some of recently finished work as soon as John gets them to me [he said he'd email them last night]. For now here's a teaser shot from Davis - note the strut towers, the downpipe and that little thing peeking out in front of the rear tire.

Oh yeah, another thing we finished. The shifter is a clue [it's not just the shifter wink.gif ]

If I order another set of them, I'm probably going to order 4 17x9's and split them up with the 4 17x8's.

The car does'nt even have a license plate on it, so the only stints it will have on the road is when it's being loaded onto a trailer. Thought I'm thinking I might hit a long straight stretch of HWY 1 by my house in the middle of the night to see how far it can stretch it's legs.

If I have any issues with the TD's strength [I've heard the Pro Race's are pretty damn strong] I'll switch over to CCW. The TD's don't look half bad I think and they weigh only 19 lbs. And 4 of them custom made to my specs are less than half of the cost of 4 CCW's.

The wheels I broke in the Spec Miata were TD's Pro Race 2... under normal racing load in turn 2 at Thunderhill... never bounced a curb all day. They do have some races on them tho.

I do like the other TD's and it seems like everyone else in the racing world is going there... I see them on a majority of the spec miata's racing.

What are the chances that two of the same rims break in one track day?
