And as far as I know, this issue is the case with all Euro ECU or remaps.
Doesn't apply to IPD remaps - I have no problem with the OBII port function; I also got it inspected after installation.

All that I've read states that manual remaps aren't OBDII compatible just yet, but I'd like to be wrong.

Wow, never said that. Canada has OBDII compliant ECU's. I'm just having a hard time tracking them down for less than $500.

You should be able to use your Auto ECU. Just remove the TCU once you've done the swap. I don't think you'll get any codes this way. B Mac has a 95 that he recently swapped and I believe his auto ECU minus TCU method is working for him.

If that is the case I will just try running what I got and see what happens... the worse I figure will happen is a CEL.

but isnt it the map that indicates that anyways? So that would only be relavant to people who want to keep the stock tune. If there was a american manual map that RICA had, then they could fix that issue. Problem is that all the maps they get are from oversees, and therefore are not OBDII compatible.

Correct. If you get a tune, you're getting a European tune, which isn't OBDII compliant. But RICA had indicated that they might try to move on to OBDII soon.

You can use the auto ECU, I ran that in my 97 855 for a full year before switching to a manual ECU. The problems are:
-jerky car when you let off the gas since RPM's drop quicker
-shifting takes a little getting used to for the same reason, you have to be a little bit more gentle with the clutch
-CEL for P1618, missing auxiliary input/output, which is the code for your missing TCU.
-Don't run your TCU, or you will trigger other codes and have a flashing arrow in the dash.
-You will run lean when you let off the throttle (not lean enough to trigger a code but leaner than a manual ECU)
-You won't pass inspection b/c of the CEL.

I could be wrong, but I think Ben is not getting any CEL codes due to the missing TCU at the moment. I think he has an idle air control issue or something like that which is giving him a CEL, but no other codes and as you said, now that the TCU is pulled, there is no more flashing arrow.

Joe, (Gieseppe) said the same thing. I think some 94 or early 95 cars are CEL free that way. Doug's was the same way as well. But if your car is OBDII compliant, then you'll have the dreaded CEL.

If I use that T5 M ECU I have in my 98 AWD when I do my swap, I should be CEL free too then correct?

It won't work, don't use a 98 or later ECU in a 97 or earlier car, it'll fry your AC controls.
I shipped the TCU's this morning with DHL. You should have them by Wednesday of next week.

My question is more - I shouldn't get a CEL at all once I use a Manual ECU correct?
Thanks for the TCUs! I'm sure they'll come in handy for some one at some point down the road.
