Hey guys.

Long time listener, first time caller.

Location
Perth, Western Australia

Stock Specs:
2.3L Inline 5 Cylinder Turbo
Automatic
HP ATW: 176
Quarter Mile: 14.3 (No stereo)

Mods:
EST black mesh grill
EST 18" Platinum Peg Replica (Oh noes!)
Stereo

I'm pretty happy with its stock performance, but if I get bored & come across some coin
Future Mods:
Turbo upgrade
3" turbo back exhaust
ECU upgrade

Stock 2006:

Motorvation 2008:

I kind of got carried away with the stereo. I simply love music and being my daily driver thought I'd go all out. So I read some car audio forums, purchased some simple tools and got to work. Overall its taken me around a year to complete, being my daily it was a real PITA to work on but sure worth it.

The DIY system:
Source: Alpine IVA-W200Ri 2-DIN MMS DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Receiver
Front Speakers: Dyn Audio MW172 midbass, MD-130 tweets, MW150 midrange
Processor: Alpine PXA701 via optic fibre
Front Speaker Amps: 2 x Eclipse XA4000
Subwoofer: 2 x Boston Acoustics G51244
Sub Amps: 2 x MRPM1005 Mono
Custom: Twin enclosure front doors, a pillers, fibreglass boot install etc covered in suade.
Battery: 2 x 75Ah Power Absorbed
Alarm: Any thought of obtaining anything is my possession; punishable by death.

100% digitally active, no passive crossovers.
Total RMS power: 3.2Kw

Thanks for having me VS! tup.gif

Struth, blimey, bloody hell, cheers.

Sure will! The inserts had to be shortened and I'm yet to remake them.

Cheers man. When I get the chance shall do, and no problem.

I built the subwoofer enclosures close to Alpines type-r 1222's specs, two sealed 21L enclosures.
Now the Bostons reside there without modification and require 1CuFt they still managed to hit 140.9 on termlab. smile.gif

Volvo 850's are fairly easy to get, but R's a fairly rare and expensive.
A good low mileage R goes for around 14k U.S but they don't come up very often.

kirbo thats a sweet as R you've got there, its just like the one I wanted but couldn't get hold of sad.gif

Thanks. As Ive stated, there are no performance mods to date. My mechanic did say there was some kind of pressure line re-circulated which may assist in spool time. They claim it to be the most powerful stock R they have ever driven. Lucky for me! Volvo's are readily available here in Australia. The rare models include 850R/T5Rs, V70R, oldschool 242's etc.

LOL. I hope to pull 144+ in a few months using the same equipment. Nothing record breaking but for an SQ system it should be impressive amongst my local car enthusiast.

Flattering! Hahaha. PM when that motec goes in, I'd hate to miss the thread!
I had to make sure I can get the spare out too. Two weeks after getting my new rims I ran over a large piece of wood on a major highway causing a blowout. 10min change and I was back at work. smile.gif

Oh no, its in control. Trust me. tongue.gif Yes I have some build pics. I don't like the staging of kick pods (on the floor) that I often see on VS, so I just had to smash the doors up! Here are some build pics:

Dismantle:

Prototype:

Cut cut, the Dyn motor structure is fassive!

Test fitting, measure angle etc:

I'll have to digg through my old phone to find more progress pics. Shall update soon.

dude, that's nuckin futs, i'm speechless. Great craftsmanship. and that chick, scorchin',lol. tup.gif tongue.gif

RE:the MOTEC, i've never actually met this dude, i noticed his car at the petrol station, he noticed mine, lol, the old grill must have stood out like a sore thumb, late in the day i called the volvo sevice place and they put me onto the service manager, which was the same dude at the petrol station and we talked a bit. When i went to get my turbo badge, the guy that sold it 2 me told me he was doing the motec for a mechanic, i.e. green 850R.
Anyway late in the year i'm hoping to get a few volvos together in Sydney for a Official VS meet at a large dealership here, they were very interested, and said they needed was an email from VS Mod. wink.gif Anyway, i'm waiting till they are ready to reopen their huge salesroom and i will definitely need to get a better camera by then.
